The Royal Netherlands Navy has a modern arsenal of ships and weapon systems. The technical maintenance of these systems is provided by the Directie Materiele Instandhouding (DMI) at the naval base in Den Helder. To test modern weapon systems after maintenance in the workshop, they are connected to an independent 400 Hz network in line with the electrical networks on board ships.

The 400 Hz network is generated by a 400 Hz system consisting of two three-phase rotary converters and a two-phase static converter.

Of the two old rotary inverters, only one (1) was still operational and it had now reached the same number of running hours as the inverter declared total-loss by the supplier.

The static inverter had also been in operation since 2000 and was also starting to enter its end-of-life phase.

We replaced the existing rotary inverters and associated controls for two new silenced rotary inverters each with a capacity of 50 kVA / 40 kW which we assembled ourselves. We also replaced the existing static inverter for a new one of the Piller brand.
